In September, Commonwealth Exchange and The Royal Commonwealth Society launched the report Saved by the Bell in Parliament where we were joined by Robin Walker MP, Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Education Secretary. A two-page summary of the report is also available to download.
We also visited Tetherdown Primary school in North London where we asked the pupils a number of questions about the Commonwealth. Watch the video below.
Polling commissioned for this report shows that only 50% of young Britons know that the Queen is the Head of the Commonwealth; seven in ten do not have a friend in a Commonwealth country; only 7% can correctly identify the Commonwealth flag; nearly half have not learnt about the Commonwealth in school; and under one in four can correctly identify three Commonwealth nations.
