Service for World Peace

The United Nations Association welcomes everyone to join for a Service for World Peace at Canterbury Cathedral on 29th October at 6.30pm.

The service will also commemorate the 70th anniversary of the United Nations' Association. While retaining the basic theme, the UNA are expanding and changing the format to reflect their concern with the current refugee situation in Europe. The UNHCR reports that there are more refugees than at any time since the Second World War. Does this mean that the UN Security Council is not properly and consistently fulfilling its prime responsibility for maintaining peace and human security?

The Keynote Address will be delivered by The Rt Hon Helen Clark and address the topic of 'Forced Displacement: Responding to a Global Crisis.

All are welcome. A collection will be taken in aid of the UN Refugee Agency-UK (UNHCR).
